ABOUT US

Mujeres en Acción - Women in Action, is an international volunteer network composed of women leaders from different Latin American countries whose mission is to strengthen the institutional capacities of social organizations in Latin America, enabling them to achieve greater sustainability and efficiency in their management.

 

Women in Action was born in a workshop for women leaders from different countries called "Global Women in Management - GWIM 63" - promote by Plan International USA and held in Bogotá, Colombia, between 17 October and 15 November 2015.

 

The workshop brings together 26 women from diverse cultures from Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Guatemala and Mexico to share, examine and adapt best practices worldwide for expanding women’s economic opportunities and meeting the needs of their communities and countries.

From the possibility of sharing experiences and learning, emerged within the group the idea of ​​creating a network through which they could implement the acquired tools and skills combined with their own previous experience and thus enhance the work of the various organizations of civil society. Now, this  26 women are voluntary and have some link with development organizations in their countries. 

 

The group set as target to promote coordination and exchange of experiences that encourage the growth of organizations. To do this, from 2016 they would visit once a year a social organization to strengthen its institutional capacity through professional advice on topics such as: dimensions of leadership, economic participation, fundraising, project management/monitoring and evaluation, financial management, advocacy, etrategic communications/public speaking, and others.
